If you would have told me it would be love 

that woke me up and changed my life forever,

and heartbreak that put me back together…

I would have thought you were crazy.

It doesn’t make logical sense to me.

 

But love and heartbreak don’t work on logic.

It’s deep seated feelings we may never understand.

Sometimes built on family history and familiarity.

Sometimes built on fear and emptiness.

And sometimes, built on faith and understanding.

 

You can live through nightmares and still change reality.

You can choose which love you want to feel.

Which love you want and choose to heal you….

 

There was a time where love to me was full of pain.

Complete with judgement and misunderstanding.

Until that no longer resonated as love,

Because I choose to see something better.

Something powerful and majestic.

Something soft and comforting….

 

But that wasn’t what I was used to.

It wasn’t what I learned love was at all.

I had to choose, and consciously lose

My thoughts and beliefs around what love was.

 

This alone, is a true test of love.

For yourself, your past and experiences you’ve lived.

Some things have to fall part completely.

So that you can rebuild on a different foundation.

 

So let the weight crush you. 

Let it change you completely.

And rise from the ashes,

So beautiful and neatly.
