Life has a funny way of giving us the things we need,
even when we aren’t actually asking for them.
So last night I was scrolling through old pictures,
Trying to find all of the kids 1st day of school pics
Because my goodness…
They should both be graduating this year!
Then this morning,
I was randomly thinking
“I haven't done a long form blog in a while”,
But I don't know what to write about…
Then all of a sudden my ADHD brains jumps into
“Do you know what I also found in all of those pics”?
PROOF OF LIFE>
Now that might sound strange without context,
But I have been struggling with these thoughts for a while now
About simply surviving instead of living.
Then this whole thing comes up and proves to me
I may have thought I was simply surviving,
But I have been living the whole freaking time!
I don’t know why it took me looking back at these pics,
And really feeling what each one of them meant.
And then taking it a step further,
To create this
“THINGS I’VE DONE - that meant something to me” list…
But I’m glad it did in the end.
I’m not going to lie,
It made me super emotional,
And I was literally balling my eyes out.
Because my mind likes to play tricks on me,
And tell me that I am nothing and nobody
And I haven’t accomplished shit sometimes.
But then I look back,
And see all of this proof!
And it’s undeniable that I am so much more!
That I have done so much more
Then one mind can even remember sometimes.
So, I don’t know where you are today…
Or what you are going through.
But I hope that this inspires you either way!
Because even when your mind plays tricks on you,
I will be here to remind you!
You are worthy, you are enough, you’ve done enough!
So, go find your receipts!
Look through your pictures. Think about the weird shit you've tried. Remember where you've gone. Remember what you've made. Remember the people you've loved. Remember the things that scared you and you did anyway. Remember the things you survived. Remember the tiny moments nobody else would consider important. Remember all the things that make you - YOU!
Because maybe you haven't been failing at living either.
Maybe you've been living the whole freaking time. ❤️
Sidenote - If you look through this list and get to the curry - there is a storytime lol.
We went with friends/family to visit Stony Brook one day and as we were leaving there was this group of Indian guys all hanging around, eating and enjoying their time right? Well, they asked us as we were walking by if we wanted to try some curry. And of course me being a foodie and wanting to try all of the things, I said yes and went right up and got some food. Everyone else might have looked at me like I was insane but all I could think was “They wouldn’t be eating it if it was poisoned” lol. And guess what? Memories made! And that shit was good too! hahaha
